Derive the dimensional formula for pressure.

SOLUTION
$$Pressure = \dfrac{Force}{Area}$$

$$ = \,\dfrac{{M\, \times \,\frac{{velocity}}{{Time}}}}{{{{\left( {length} \right)}^2}}}$$

$$ = \,\,\dfrac{{M \times \,\frac{{length}}{{time\, \times \,time}}}}{{{{\left( {length} \right)}^2}}}$$

$$ = \,\dfrac{M}{{{{\left( {time} \right)}^2}\, \times \,length}}$$

$$ = \,\dfrac{M}{{{T^2}\, \times \,L}}$$

$$ = \,M \,{L^{ - 1}}\,{T^{ - 2}}$$
