If the difference of two complementary angles is 10, then the smaller angle is

ANSWER

40

SOLUTION
Let first angle = x
Then its complementary angle = 90 - x
Now $$x - (90 - x) = 10$$
$$\implies\, x - 90 + x =10$$
$$\implies\, 2x = 10 + 90 = 100$$
$$\implies\, x =50$$
Second angle = $$90- 50 =40$$
Smaller angle= 40
