# The dimensions of impulse are

$\left[ {M\;L\;{T^{ - 1}}} \right]$

##### SOLUTION

$Impulse (I) = Force \times Time$                           . . . . (1)

Since, $Force (F) = Mass \times Acceleration = M \times [LT^{-2}]$

$\therefore$ The  dimensional formula of force $=[M^1L^1T^{-2}]$                   . . . . (2)

On substituting equation (2) in equation (1) we get,

$Impulse =[M^1L^1T^{-2}]\times [T^1]=[M^1L^1T^{-1}]$

Therefore, the impulse is dimensionally represented as $[M^1L^1T^{-1}]$
