Mathematics

Which has a greater measure:
(i) an angle complementary to $$15^{\circ}$$
(ii) an angle supplementary to
$$125^{\circ}$$

ANSWER

(i)

SOLUTION
Let $$x$$ be the complement
$$\therefore x+15^{ \circ  }=90^{ \circ  }\\ \Rightarrow x=90^{ \circ  }-15^{ \circ  }=75^{ \circ  }$$
Let $$y$$ be the supplement
$$\therefore y+125^{ \circ  }=180^{ \circ  }\\ \Rightarrow y=180^{ \circ  }-125^{ \circ  }=55^{ \circ  }$$
So complement has greater value.
Option $$A$$ is correct.
